1. I need to prepare because Ramadan is just around the corner.
- Somali Meaning: Waxaan u baahanahay inaan is diyaariyo sababtoo ah Ramadaankii waa nagu soo dhow yahay.
- Vocabulary:
- “just around the corner” means it is happening very soon.
2. The moon has been sighted, so tomorrow is the first day of Ramadan.
- Somali Meaning: Bishii waa la arkay, markaa berri waa maalinta koowaad ee Ramadaanka.
- Vocabulary:
- The phrase “has been sighted” is the formal way to say something has been seen
3. During this month, we fast from dawn to sunset every day.
- Somali Meaning: Bisha ramadaan, waxaan soonaa waaberiga ilaa qorrax dhaca maalin kasta.
- Vocabulary Note:
- Dawn : Waaberiga (The very beginning of light before the sun rises).
- Sunset: Qorrax dhaca (When the sun goes down).
