1. Many Muslims observe Itikaf by staying in the mosque for the final ten days.
Somali Meaning: muslimiin badan ayaa guda (sameeya) Ictikaafka iyagoo ku nalaanaya masjidka tobanka maalmood ee ugu dambeeya.
Vocabulary:
- “Observe“: Gudanaya / Sameynaya (Performing a religious practice).
- “Staying in“: Ku nagaanaya / Deggan (Remaining in a place).
2. Itikaf is a spiritual retreat where one focuses solely on worship and prayer.
Somali Meaning: Ictikaafku waa gooni-u-bax ruuxi ah oo qofku uu xoogga saarayo kaliya cibaadada iyo ducada.
Vocabulary:
- “Spiritual retreat“: Gooni-u-bax ruuxi ah (Moving away from normal life to focus on faith).
- “Solely“: Kaliya (Only and exclusively).
3. During Itikaf, people disconnect from worldly distractions to get closer to Allah.
Somali Meaning: Inta lagu jiro Ictikaafka, dadku waxay ka go’aan waxyaabaha dunida ee mashquuliya si ay ugu dhawaadaan Allaah.
